Our history: the origins of RagingWire

Founded in 2000, RagingWire has designed, built and operated mission-critical data centers in strategic locations across the US. Starting in Sacramento, California and Ashburn, Virginia, their portfolio expanded to include seven data center campuses, offering the highest-density power and highest availability and earning RagingWire a reputation for being a leading and highly respected data center provider.

In 2014, NTT Communications acquired an 80% equity stake in RagingWire. During this period, NTT also acquired European data center operator, e-shelter, as well as Indian provider Netmagic.

A few years later, NTT acquired 100% of RagingWire and its other data center properties and began to consolidate the companies into what would become the third-largest data center operator in the world: Global Data Centers, a division of NTT Ltd. In 2023, NTT Ltd. began adopting the NTT DATA brand, and will be fully integrated into its new parent company, NTT DATA, Inc. by April of 2024.

NTT DATA’s Global Data Centers division in the Americas offers 100% availability, flexible power configurations, carrier neutral telecommunications and best-in-class client experiences at our campuses in six US states. The RagingWire heritage of quality service and client satisfaction continues today as we enter an exciting new era of data center operations with the rapid adoption of technology such as AI, IoT and more.
